Shakespeare’s works have been visually represented numerous times, some far better than others. The challenge of redesigned book covers for some of Shakespeare’s most notable works involved creating something unique. For my redesigns, I took on a modern flat design approach, which created juxtaposition with the era in which the pieces were written. The design elements include one piece of imagery from the book, and the name written subtly within the shadow. This effect was used to create prominence in the visuals rather than the type taking a more significant piece of the hierarchy. The assignment provided a valuable lesson in attempting to design something original that has been designed so many times already.
